I built a sculpture of us
Perfect, in every way
But something seemed off about my face
So you chipped some away
I built a sculpture of us
Beautiful and eternal
But a piece of your chest was missing
So I glued a piece from my chests’ internal
I looked at the sculpture of us
Timeless and true
But why was I crying?
It couldn’t have been about you
I found the sculpture of us
It looked all wrong
But that was me, it had to be
After all, I was where I belong
I destroyed the sculpture of us
Broken and bruised
But while your figure remain intact
Mine lay shattered, abused
I cleaned up the sculpture of us
Hands bloodied from the shavings
But from the carnage came a vision
A woman, so beautiful, made from the pieces
Of the sculpture she was saving
